The University Scholars Leadership Symposium is an international humanitarian leadership programme where students can learn about, explore, and address global concerns concerning the plight of those suffering in extreme poverty. Held annually from August 1st to 7th 2013, the Symposium is hosted by a different country in the Asia Pacific region each year. This year it was held in Manila, Philippines. The goal of Symposium is to act as a learning resource in terms of planning, managing and implementing a successful humanitarian service project in local communities or around the globe. A diverse group of our students represented IITM after a stringent evaluation procedure that involved review of their resumes, statements of purpose and a formal presentation by every student on the theme of the symposium, “Eradicating poverty from society”. The students’ travel was sponsored by our generous alumni.
The B-Plan of our students Ayush Bhargava, Pratik Kothari and Urvi N Shah was placed third in the Symposium’s competition “A Voice in Social Change”.
